It's said that people are people no matter what era they live in.
Chapter Description: We meet our protagonists, Alice and Henry, as they get ready for All Hallow's Eve.
In the 22nd century, the task of transporting people and things had been given over to the quantum reverberations of the transporter.
With practically no cost in energy to perform the feat of making a quantum copy of an object, duplicating it at another point in spacetime, and then destroying the original, moving people from one place to another became the preferred method of travel.
People still took walks, but it was far more convenient to take a stroll along a coastal beach than to walk down to the local grocery store.
“Going out on the town” wasn’t just going down to your local pub to kick back and enjoy a local brew with your friends, some people still did that, but most preferred to go to Ireland or Germany with their compatriots for that “proper” drink of choice.
So it was on this occasion often dubbed “The scariest night of the year” or “All Hallows Eve” that one couple named Alice and Henry were getting dressed up for a daytime fancy dress party in Berlin.
Unbeknownst to the pair, their evening of “Trick or Treat” was to be filled with a few more “tricks” than they bargained for.
