The pendulum is handed down through Bill's family.
Chapter Description: The chaotic time pendulum returns.
In the hospital, the 74-year-old man shuddered, then lay still. He had died. 7 years before, the man was 33 years old before a time pendulum aged him to 67.
His brother, Andy, and his family, stood by him till the very end. In his hands, Andy saw the Pendulum that Bill had given him. It’s blue diamond shone with an ethereal light. He handed it to his 7-year-old son, unsure of what to do with it. Sam’s sister, Stephie, immediately tried to snatch it as a piece of jewelry; it would no doubt impress her boyfriend.
When the four got home, Stephie tried to take it off Sam again, but Sam wouldn’t let his 16-year-old sister take it. His father had given it to him, not her.
At lunch, Sam asked his father just who his older brother was. Andy responded "He... he’s not my older brother, but for some unknown reason, he became 67 7 years ago." "Ya wha?" A dumbfound Stephie asked. "Stop this nonsense." their mother snorted, "and Finish your lunch!"
When the two kids had left, Andy admitted to his wife; "I knew it was the pendulum ever since he’d handed it to me. And I gave it to Sam. He won’t do anything with it, he’s just a child." His wife gave him a quick kiss, then hurried off to the funeral direct centre.
Meanwhile, Sam was passing the pendulum in and out of his fingers. He had no idea that in his hand was a key to power Time itself. He was thinking about Stephie, wanting to take the pendulum.
"It’s so unfair. Stephie gets everything she wants, because she’s the oldest. "I’m the older, Sam! Nyuh-nyuh-nee-nyuh-nyuh!"Honestly, she’s so stupid. Huh. And here I am with the cast-offs of her items. Her toys, her shoes, her bed, EVERYTHING! It’s SO UNFAIR!" He flumped backwards onto his bed, fighting back tears.
That night, Sam put the pendulum in his cupboard. He didn’t want Stephie taking it during the night. "I want to be the older one, to get the privileges. I want her to be the youngest of us." No sooner had he thought this, he drifted off to sleep.
Meanwhile, in his cupboard, the pendulum began to glow an even brighter blue as it worked it’s magic.....
Next Morning, Sam hauled himself out of bed, and made his way to the staircase to go downstairs. Stephie would doubtless be up by now. As he made his way past her room, he caught sight of something. Something that made him stop and stare.
To Be continued......
