Ahh it’s the first day of spring. Flowers are in bloom, new generations of animals are born. Everything is the same as it always is in the world. Including that for my strange family.

Every spring, our family undergoes a change. Not just any change. You see my family are called Spring witches. Every year starting on the first day of spring, every female who is at least the age of 12 gain powers for 2 weeks. Now what kind of powers you may ask. Well it depends. Every spring is different then the last. It’s sort of like the Chinese calendar with every year being different (year of the rat, sheep, dragon, etc).

With us, we have the animal year, gender year, size year, etc. In each case our powers change depending on what the theme is. We can only use magic relating to the theme. We have no choice, our powers only work in that 2 weeks and can only do magic of the theme.

Now that brings us to this year’s theme; Baby magic. Meaning we can turn ourselves and others into babies at will. The catch, we cannot use the powers on anyone in our family. But most important we must turn the person back before the 2 weeks is up or they will be stuck like that until the next baby magic year which would be in 20 years.

Now we get to my story. My name is Jessica Syna and I am a 16 yr old spring witch. Every year since I was 12, I look forward to my family tradition. This is of course would be my first baby magic year and I am looking forward to it. Now we are told to keep our family’s little secret a well a secret. But we are allowed to tell one person, other then your husband. If you or the person you tell anyone else, you will loose your powers forever.

Now as soon as I was old enough for my family’s powers to come to me, the person I told was my best friend Amber. At first she didn’t believe but luckily this was on the first day of the animal year and I turned myself into a rabbit and since then we had a blast with my spring powers. Ever since then the night before the first day of spring, we have a sleepover so the first thing in the morning, I use my power for our pleasure.

Oh I can wait, being a baby again could be fun said Amber

Now remember the rules, you cannot tell anyone. I do not want to loose my ability. You know about my Aunt Carol, she had to go on and tell everyone she knew and she didn’t just loose her power but she has been frowned upon since. In fact since then, I haven’t seen or heard from her.

I told you this every year since you told me. I promise I wont. Now what do you have planned for the next two weeks?

I am glad you asked, since the magic theme is babyhood, we could go and have fun in places babies usually go. Now it can be playgrounds, daycares, etc.

Daycares? How can we do that. We need an adult to drop us off.

Don’t worry my dad said he wont mind dropping us off.

Ok I guess that sounds fun.

Now we should get some sleep. We have school tomorrow then after that it’s a full weekend of babyhood.
