Chapter Description: Jason wakes up the next day to find that things went from bad to worst.
I woke up the next morning hoping the nightmare had ended. Reliving the Halloween when I was 15 was bad enough but things went from bad to worst when I had to relive possibly the worst Halloween I have ever had when I was 10. Now when I woke up that morning, the sun’s glare was in my eyes so I couldn’t see right away. Finally after about 2 minutes of my eyes getting used to the light, I was able to see and it wasn’t what I was hoping for. I wasn’t in my room well at least the one I had when I was 18 or 10 at the matter. I was back in my old room before my family had moved to the house we lived today. My family moved right around the time Jamie was born since we needed extra room. By the looks of it. It was close to moving day because my room was filled with some boxes that some still needed to be packed.
“Great, Im now 8 years old” I thought to myself.
Luckily for me Halloween was on a Saturday that year so I didn’t have to go through 3rd grade all over again. I then noticed over in the corner of my room was my costume. That year I went as a Power Ranger. Man it seemed every Halloween I was reliving was getting worst and worst when it came to costumes. I got up from bed and looked in the mirror in the room. I had forgotten how dorky I had looked then with my hair in a mushroom hair cut look.
I went downstairs for breakfast and my family was already eating. My brother who was now 4 was eating and looked at me.
“Hey Jason, you want to see Sea Food?”
I knew what was coming but before I could answer he stuck out his tongue to show his chewed up food.
“Get it. See Food”
I always remembered that when he was 4, he was obsessed with TV and anything that seemed funny he would mimic for a while including that.
I then noticed my mom feeding little Jamie who was at the time 3 months old. My mom never really breastfed so she always fed with a bottle.
“Jason honey, I want you to get ready as soon as you eat your breakfast because I have some errands to do.” said my mom
I ate my breakfast like I was told and when I finished my mom reminded me to get ready. This day was getting worst by the second. Not only was I now 8 but I was being treated like one. I had a feeling this was going to be a long day.
Not long after I got dressed, my mom took us to go on a errand run. After she had put Jamie and Peter in car seats we are off. I was completely bored out of my mind. For the whole entire car ride there was nothing but kid’s music. I know kids my age listened to it but in reality I was 18.
She took us to the supermarket to get some last minute candy for the trick or treaters that night. My brother was begging mom to buy him some candy.
“Honey you will get plenty of candy later tonight”.
My brother kept on trying to get her to buy him something she kept on refusing. After about 2 hours she did give in and took us to McDonalds for Lunch. For some reason I want think straight so when she pulled up to the drive thru I asked if I could have a Big Mac.
“Jason, how many times have I told you that a Big Mac is way too big for you to eat. Now how does a cheeseburger happy meal prize sound? You get a new toy along with it.”
I decided to go with the flow with a fake child’s glee and we started heading back home. The rest of the door was even worst. Since I was now 8, I wasn’t allowed to watch the kind of shows I would normally watch when I was 18. Gone were the days where I would watch like CSI, 24 and Lost. It was nothing but cartoons. Now that I was older at least mentally, I had forgotten how corny they were, I was bored out of my mind. But I hung in there hoping tonight everything would return to normal.
Around 4pm my mom told me and Peter to get our costumes on to go trick or treating. I almost forgot that since Peter was 4, we had to go a little bit earlier. My dad got home and stayed as usual but this time to take care of baby Jamie. This time the walk around the old neighborhood was a lot quicker since little Peter’s legs couldn’t want that much. I guess I was getting to use to being a kid again that I actually began to start acting like one.
“But mom, can we stay out longer? My bag is not even half full.”
“Jason, I don’t care. You know your brother cant walk as long as you. When he is older you can trick or treat for a while but you know you cant.”
When we got home, for the first time that I could remember. I was actually tired. I knew why, walking for a hour was a lot to an 8 year old body. You now know what it felt for you brother and sister. My mom let me count my candy and watch some TV but when it came to be around 9pm, I was told it was time for bed. I don’t know why but I was actually tired. My mind was telling me that before I would go to bed a little later but my body was telling me otherwise. So I went to bed almost preying that this nightmare would finally come to an end and if it didn’t what year would I wake up in? I didn’t have to worry long because about 1 minute going to bed I fell asleep.
The next morning, I knew right away things weren’t normal again because I wasn’t in my room from the present. Heck I wasn’t in my old room. I was confused because up until I was 8, I lived in that house. So why wasn’t I sleeping in my old bedroom? By the time I was able to see where I was. I realized that I wasn’t sleeping on a bed. I was sleeping on a floor mat. I was able to look around and I realize I was now in what looked like a pre school classroom and it must be nap time. I was now very scared because while I was sleeping I had jumped back 4 years.
“Jason, why don’t you be a good boy and continue napping like the rest of the class” said my old Pre school teacher Mr. Johanson
I was tired for some reason anyway but I feared that I would wake up from another change. I woke up from what seemed like hours but in reality it was like 15 minutes. I was sure glad to see that nothing had changed. I was still in the pre school classroom. After the teacher told us to get up I rubbed my eyes. I didn’t know what was worst. That I was now 4 or I had to spend the rest of the day in pre school.
After the rest of the class got up it was time for arts and craps. We had to make paper pumpkins. It was a nightmare. All around me the other kids were doing very childish things like eating glue. I was thinking how could this day get any worst?
