A witch named Sareena needs to practice transformations, and the only suitable subject is her best friend & roommate Misty. A work in progress.
Chapter Description: The transformation takes place, and Sareena's babysitting adventure begins.
It was June 25th, 2026, leaving Sareena Black exactly 2 months to get into magical shape for her assignment.
"Misty, we need to talk," Sareena said to her friend directly after entering their apartment at about 2 P.M. on a Thursday, introductions be damned. Today she wore a black and white dress, along with a hairbow designed after the flag of her home state of Texas.
The blonde in question looked up from the TV; she was watching whatever was on. "Did I leave da milk in the car ’gain?"
"Nah, nah. That’s not it, don’t worry. See..." Sareena walked over and took a seat next to the girl, who wore a simple pink T-shirt with a pair of jeans. Misty scooted a little closer to her after she had set down, but not enough so to violate personal space. "As you are aware there is a certain project that Sarabeth wishes for us to perform in two months."
"Uh huh."
Misty turned down the TV so she could better hear Sareena’s response, "Well, the fact is that I have never been much behind the particular sort of magic we need. As a result, I need someone to practice on so that I can properly cast the spells and hold the form for a solid amount of time."
The blonde shrugged slightly, smiling a little. "So... you wanna have me call up Johnny? Even if he is all manly he’d probably like bein’ able to find a guy for the evenin’ or somethin’."
"That’s not what I had in mind, sorry to say. My preferences such as they are lean toward someone I’m a bit more..." Sareena paused to reach an arm over, pulling the blonde in closer to her until they were practically shoulder-to-shoulder, "fond of. What do you say, would you mind if I transformed you for awhile Misty?"
"Well, um..." Misty squirmed slightly. "Why’d-- why’d you need to transform things? That isn’t what we’re doin’, is it?"
"They’re about the same on a magical level believe it or not." Sareena shrugged slightly, bending forward slightly and smirking. "That isn’t what’s important right now though; you don’t seem terribly enthusiastic."
Misty scratched herself a little, before leaning back and prompting Sareena to do the same. "I jus’ don’t like the idea of my body turnin’ into somethin’ weird and different, ya know? What if I don’t like it, or it hurts or somethin’?"
Sareena chuckled at that. "Come on, Smid." The black-haired witch draped an arm across her companion’s shoulders. "I keep an eye out for you, and you do the same for me. I wouldn’t let something hurt you."
"Mm... Thanks. But I still dunno..."
"Heheh. Tell you what-- what if... I used a spell that you wouldn’t know was in effect when it was, and would have forgotten about when it was finished. Would that be okay?"
"I guess so, Rena. I mean... I wanna help ya an’ all, but..."
"I understand. Trust me, this will not hurt and you won’t dislike it." Sareena stopped for a second to pull her arm back to her own side of the couch, then began to think. She did this for a few seconds, when she managed to remember the spell. "Dios de Tiempo, oye mi llamada. Ponga a mi amigo espalda brumosa en pa?ales!"
At first the words did nothing (well, since they themselves were only for show they were going to continue to do nothing), but soon the actual spell’s effects took root. A slight shimmering began to surround a confused-looking Misty, before the effect turned to concealing her body from view. Sareena took the opportunity to turn her head away.
"I never did like watching these transformations," the girl mumbled, smirking slightly. She wasn’t fond of transformations at all really, but she especially didn’t want to watch it happen. Especially to Misty.
But after a few seconds, when the wind-like sounds of the spell in question had given way to a slightly-familiar high-pitched giggle, she turned back. After she had done so, she scooped up the suddenly shrunken couch mate, who was rubbing one eye sleepily.
"Mommy an’ Mama...?"
The comment made Sareena smile slightly as she set the tiny Misty onto her lap. Like she had when she was older Misty wore a pink T-shirt and jeans that were now more of a size and build fit for her-- judging by the bulk of the jeans it felt like they weren’t the only parts of her clothing to change, which Sareena already knew anyway. "They’re, let me think... They are at work. I’ll be your babysitter Rena for the day, okay?"
"Oh... okay..." The girl didn’t seem too thrilled at the prospect, but that was predictable. And it’s not as though Sareena was doing this for the fun of babysitting...not that she had much choice in doing so however, as an expected evacuation began to occur.
As she noticed the little girl on her lap getting a far-off look in her eyes, Sareena sighed slightly. Transformations did tend to send one running for the bathroom due to the shift in metabolism... It was entirely expected when the blonde started screaming.
"Hmm... Misty..." Sareena picked the blonde back up off of her lap by the arms, before laying her back onto the couch face-up. There were of course no diapers in the apartment so a run to the store was definitely in order, but at the very least the witch could remove some of the pressure on the problem. And that was what she aimed to do, as she quickly unbuttoned, unzippped, and pulled off the baby roommate’s jeans leaving her in just her shirt and a now much-more-nasally-noticeable diaper. "There we go Misty..."
This was followed up by scooping her once more, the black-haired 20-year-old careful not to put too much pressure on the girl. "Is that better?"
"Uh..." this was followed by sniffling, but after a few seconds of doing so Misty managed to choke out an, "uh huh..." After she had done so Sareena breathed a slight sigh of relief.
"That’s good. Now then..." After standing up Sareena shifted how she held her little friend, moving her from sitting in her arms to clinging to her side. Which was certainly an unusual position for Sareena to be in under virtually any circumstance, but it didn’t feel terribly uncomfortable, "Let’s get to the store so we can hurry and get you changed."
When Misty failed to complain, Sareena walked for the door. After opening it she headed on out, not bothering to turn off the TV -- the electric bill was not a hugely pressing concern; once outside Sareena closed the door, locked it, and then heard a voice call out to her.
"Howdy Sareena!" The black-haired girl with the baby on her side turned, and about two feet behind her stood her and Misty’s neighbor Jake Atmey (who, contrary to her name, was very obviously female). "I didn’t know you babysit."
"I usually don’t, but there are extraordinary circumstances." Sareena motioned her head to the teary-eyed blonde, then continued. "I’m actually in something of a hurry. I am afraid her mother did not leave me terribly equipped for the job."
"Huh. Okay then." Jake smirked slightly, before turning to head back to her own apartment. "You know, she kinda looks like Misty. Same haircut and everything."
Sareena stopped to pretend to examine the girl, before letting out a slightly forced laugh. "Yeah, she does now that you mention it. Will have to pass that to her when she gets home this evening. I’ll be seeing you."
After Jake had nodded then begun to unlock her apartment door Sareena got on the move. Fortunately the way the apartments were set up the staircase near the door led directly to the parking lot, which allowed for quick access to Misty’s car. Sareena still had the keys in her pocket from earlier, so she was able to quite clearly unlock the car, set the blonde in the passenger seat, cast a quick barrier spell to keep her from falling out of it, and go around and get in the driver’s seat.
"You know, I’m pretty good at this," the Black Princess mumbled slightly sarcastically as she started the ignition. Naturally she had not been particularly tested by any means, but this was still all coming surprisingly naturally... The car backed out a second later.
"Ih.... R-Ree?"
"Hmm?" While being sure to keep an eye on the road, Sareena quickly turned to look at her normally-older-than-her charge. "What’s wrong?"
Misty didn’t respond, her mouth instead having becoming occupied with her thumb. The sight made Sareena smile a little, before she turned back to the road. "I’ll try to hurry."
And hurry she did, as about two minutes later Sareena pulled into the parking lot of the nearest drug store to the Citrise Apartments. She was quick to climb out of the driver’s door after finding a spot right at the door, and quicker to get around the car and pull the still-suckling Misty out; she left the invisible barrier up since she was going to need it on the way back anyway. Once she had done so, she carried the girl inside.
The first order of business was to get a buggy. Sareena could feel (quite literally, via magic) people watching her, probably believing her to be the seventeenth single mom just out of high-school to enter the store that hour, but she dismissed them. Instead she merely pulled out the nearest cart she found, and deposited her magically-regressed friend into the seat in the front. The girl grimaced slightly when she landed and looked about ready to cry again, but a quick tickle under the chin put a halt to that.
Sareena was already running down aloud what all to get. In Spanish, anyway. "Pa?ales. Crema. Algo limpiar mierda con. Alimento. Una botella o dos. Jab?n. Pa?ales. Crema. Algo limpiar mierda con. Alimento. Una botella o dos. Jab?n..." The verbal reminder was interrupted though by an inquisitive squeak. "Hm?"
Misty popped her thumbo ut of her mouth. "Uh... atchoo sayin’?"
"Ah, Misty..." Sareena began to push the cart in search of the first item on her list-- pa?ales aka diapers, as she started to explain, "That’s just a different language I speak."
"Ane’nuch?"
"Don’t worry about it." Sareena removed her right hand from the handle as she continued to push the cart, so as to scratch Misty on the head; she quickly returned her hand afterward. She looked up then, her attention turning toward the diaper search as they entered the appropriate aisle.
This was where a problem potentially existed-- the Black Princess was trained in many things, but shopping for diapers was not among them. "Hmm..." The common thread that most unfamiliar with the trade would likely take a bag of Pampers at a random size and see how things worked out, but Sareena was always much more careful about these things. The first order of business was to start examining her possibilities, of course; picking up a pack of the familiar brand and a pack of the generic ones, she began to look over both’s listed features. Wait, was features the right word? Not like it mattered, but still.
"Both should fit..." She based this deduction off the comparative size of the package divided by the number of diapers to gauge on a visual level how well things would cover Misty. The Black Princess was always very anal about these things.
Perhaps too much so. "WHAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Sareena’s eardrums nearly ruptured.
Turning her head back to Misty, the witch frowned slightly. Yes, the tantrum was out in full force now. As evidenced by the kicking, the flailing arms, the screaming that was drawing the eye of every Tom, Dick, Joe, Tonya, Denise, and Joleene walking by. She probably looked like a totally incapable young mother...
"Ir? con el Pampers..." The black-haired babysitter set the generic ones back on the shelf, before quickly setting the selected underwear in the seat next to her friend and tossing in the first bottle of baby powder and first package of wipes she walked by on her way to the bathroom. She would have preferred to have been able to carefully consider them, but she also preferred Misty be comfortable and that was the more important preference.
The screaming kept up as the duo finally exited the aisle in question. Sareena began to scan for a bathroom afterwards; when she was they were in the back corner she naturally headed that way.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA---" The screams were interrupted by Sareena gently rubbing a hand on the baby’s head. That was enough to get her to stop screaming long enough to look at her black-haired friend, who proceded to further aim for quieting her little blonde pal down.
In a soft voice, she spoke in a language the little girl did not understand (mostly since the aim was more based on tone than substance, and Sareena had no hang-ups about it if no one could understand her), "Cállese Misty peque?a. La t“a Rena cambiará su pa?al tan rápido como ella puede."
Okay, so the actual substance of what she said was a very flimsy defintion of baby talk, but it wasn’t like it mattered; the infliction alone was enough to make her tiny friend reduce to sniffling once more. Conveniently, just as she did the pair reached the bathrooms; Misty was scooped up out of her seat, and Sareena carried her inside the women’s bathroom on her hip just as she had carried her out of the apartment earlier.
It took Sareena a few seconds of staring before she started to open the changing station. It wouldn’t have likely taken much effort, but with one side of her body dedicated to holding Misty things got a little complicated. But she did get it, and once the station was down the messy blonde was laid onto it. Fortunately, Sareena’s estimation that the table was prepared for unequipped mothers (or best friends as her case may be) was right on the money. Naturally she did have some basis for this, but admittedly it was something of a guess on her part.
"In retrospect, I really should have just swapped her mind with Jake’s for awhile. Hindsight is 20/20..." Had she even been paying attention that would have probably just served to confuse the messy blonde, but Sareena wasn’t even talking to her. But that wasn’t what she had done and now was most assuredly not the time to worry about it. No, now it was time to clean.
Sareena naturally started by laying her little friend on the changing table, which caused her to start fussing slightly; in this case the Black Princess ignored it, instead untaping the tiny girl’s poopy diaper.
Now there was a word Sareena never thought would cross her thoughts.
The black-haired witch frowned slightly, but she had encountered enough strange substances that the smell wasn’t going to cause her to gag. Now then, there was the matter of actually changing it...
Which fortunately, as it turned out, she didn’t have too much of a problem with. Sure, getting the girl to cooperate and moving her via the ankles in just the right ways was a little awkward, but the black-haired Black Princess was surprised to see she didn’t have too much of a problem figuring it out. The fact that Misty giggled during most of it and didn’t fuss must’ve meant something good as well.
So, after a bit of cleaning and proper disposal of everything, a new diaper was taped onto Misty and the magically-young blonde was scooped off of the table and returned to being carried on Sareena’s side. Possibly a little sub-consciously the witch turned her head over and down to her friend, giving Misty a smile and receiving one in return.
Now there was the issue of continuing their shopping, naturally. Sareena decided to converse a little with the girl she was more or less babysitting as she carried her out of the bathroom and back to the buggy. "Your mom and your mama are very friendly, you know."
Misty seemed to get the gist of what she was saying, since her response was to nod and give an, "Uh huh!"
Sareena set the girl back in her seat then, before starting to push the buggy. Sareena did sort of find herself pondering how exactly she had wound up so close to the adult Misty and her parents considering they were far more emotional than her, but then again maybe that was part of the appeal. She decided to push it out of her head and keep the conversation going. It was kind of difficult adjusting her usual speech patterns for a toddler, but... "I think you’re just as nice as they are." That got a great big smile from the blonde, which further made Sareena feel bizarrely motherly; admittedly, she was starting to think she kind of enjoyed the feeling.
Sareena silently noted that Misty was rather well behaved compared to the hellspawn many little kids she saw in public appeared to be. But then again, she herself and Misty’s parents were all much more rational human beings than most of the mothers she saw with such children-- which, given the Smid family’s penchant for silliness, said something though at least they weren’t cruel like a number of parents Sareena encountered in the city. Still, she decided that the tiny blonde deserved a reward for her good behavior.
So she posed a question to the tot, "Would you like it if I got you a toy?"
The little girl became so happy it was almost scary, shouting out something that sounded more like, "Doy! Doy!" until Sareeena shushed her.
"In a minute, okay?" The blonde sure enough did quiet down, but she retained an adorable smile after the fact. Adorable enough that it ws able to accomplish the difficult feat of getting to Code 387, which meant that it was surely deserving of being caught on film.
Actually, that suddenly sounded like a decent idea... Sareena rotated the cart slightly so as to take it down a different aisle instead of to where she usually saw the toys right below where she’d occasionally come for comic books high-profile enough that a drug store would carry them. Fortunately the girl she was transporting didn’t seem to have any recognition of the store (which didn’t really surprise Sareena, since her parents lived on the opposite side of town), or heading the wrong way might very well have been grounds for a tantrum.
But eventually Sareena did come across disposable cameras-- which there weren’t many of, to the girl’s disappointment given how this was only of the only places around that still carried them. But still, Sareena grabbed her usual brand and set it in the buggy. She would’ve already taken a picture by now, but Sareena did not have a cellphone for a very good reason-- her understanding of technology was, beyond the Internet and watching movies, rooted in the 90’s, which said something when one considered she was born in 2006.
"All“ vamos. Now then, let us see about getting you something to play with." As Misty started clapping her tiny hands in delight at the idea, Sareena pushed the buggy onward through the aisle before turning and entering once more two aisles over. She slightly kicked around picking up some reading materials for later....
No, she decided, when she realized that a cashier at this drug store would recognize her for sure and she didn’t have her baseball cap and make-up on hand. It was bad enough people would see her buying baby supplies.
"Pick out anything you would like," Sareena said as she stopped the buggy in front of the toys and embarrassing reading material she usually kept in an unmarked box under her bed; Misty promptly began eyeing them left and right, up and down in awe. Most of them were cheaply made generic ones like one would expect from such an establishment, but that didn’t phase her and Sareena didn’t feel like finding a toy store. Well, actually, given her hobbies and the tie-ins to them.... No, she decided, that was definitely not going to happen.
"Mmmm.... umm... uh..." Apparently Misty was just as indecisive a shopper as a child... So, while she inspected, Sareena found herself doing the same with the comics located just up above. Just as she was considering grabbing one and maybe buying it with some paper-thin excuse, Misty fortunately made up her mind.
"Uhn! Uhn!" The blonde was reaching out for something; Sareena wasn’t entirely sure what, but she took to pointing at various objects within the general viciniy of the area Misty was trying so very hard to reach, until the blonde started nodding frantically when she motioned toward a cheap plastic water gun. Admittedly Sareena hesitated at the idea of buying it for a second just by virtue of the fact that water would inevitably get everywhere, but she very quickly decided she didn’t care and grabbed it before tossing it in the buggy.
"Wandoy!" Misty, being of a mind currently so very young, began to fuss when Sareena started pushing the cart with no toy in her hands. "Wan’ doy..."
When she saw there were tears building up, Sareena quickly tossled her tiny pal’s hair with a small but surprisingly not forced smile. "You can have it as soon as we get home, okay? It won’t take long." The little blonde quieted at that, though she did still squirm impatiently. Sareena decided that was good enough, but right about then was also when she realized that a problem existed.
The problem? She was roughly twenty minutes into babysitting-- it had really only been that long?-- into a six-hour schedule. Well, she was probably going to five considering how late in the day it was and all, but still. Misty was going to get hungry during this time, and bottles and baby food probably weren’t things she was going to find in this drug store. So she needed a source for food, or she needed someone to supply some. Probably better that way, since between Misty’s new toy and her own general policy of driving as little as possible since she never cared for it, going out for food was pretty much out of the question. So who to get to bring it...
Jake was certainly an option, but then that raised the issue of how long it might take before the food actually got back. Plus she would have to explain why she couldn’t go get it herself...
Sareena stopped thinking on the subject long enough to set what she was buying on the counter and give a little wave to the familiar Latina girl running it. "Babysitting," the Black Princess explained with a slightly forced chuckle, which drew a nod from her sort-of aquaintance.
She did not go back to considering until her and Misty were in the car once more. Now then... Cynthia Hearst? Hell no. That one guy who helped on guard duty once? No... Dammit, why did she only know people from work? Of course, that’s when another option hit her. So Sareena mentally penciled it in as she drove, all while Misty sucked on her fingers in the passenger seat. They quickly reached the apartment, where after parking she grabbed the two bags with the hand of one arm and carried Misty on her hip with the other.
